Given to the post office counter person on Monday 3/8/21. AVOID this statement and have them scan and print you a receipt!! Was told at each Post Office that these Ebay Standard Envelope labels don't need to be scanned while I'm there and a receipt printed. Then, brought all to a Post Office, and handed then to the counter employee. Have printed out my Ebay Standard Envelope labels at home through eBay. Have used Ebay Standard Envelope since end of February for about 30-40 transactions. A fellow mentor tested this with a knowledgeable postal clerk and basically, it needs to bend easily around a standard coffee mug to be able to go through the sorting machines correctly. I keep seeing you use the word rigid too when describing your envelope type, rigid is NOT allowed. dealing with a postal clerk who wasn't familiar with You're right that the clerk most likely doesn't know the rules for this mail class.īoth of the pages that have information about the envelope size state the same dimensions. He said those would cost even more because they're bigger! But, 6x8 complies with the Ebay Standard Envelope requirements for the same postage. My post office sells 6"x8" rigid mailers so I asked the clerk about those. But, I read "should have" as not being the same as "must have." Also, there are other items that give maximum and minimum envelope dimensions and mine comply with those requirements. Seal the envelope, print the label, and drop off at the post office in the "metered mail" slot in the lobby (I have stopped handing the envelope in at the counter, as it seems to slow down the mailing process).Saw the same thing. I then trim two pieces of cereal box or soda pop cardboard to fit moderately snugly inside a simple white envelope, and insert the stamp or card between the cardboard layers. Stamps are inserted into glassine envelopes, and trading cards into thin plastic sleeves. I have used the ESE multiple times, mostly with stamps and trading cards. The pathway must be cleared out manually, and the offending envelope will be set aside for reclassification: sometimes the envelopes are returned to the sender, but sometimes they are sent on to the buyer, marked "postage due."
#EBAY STANDARD SHIPPING ENVELOPE SERIES#
There are several USPS videos online which demonstrate the series of chutes, belts and rollers through which these envelopes MUST be able to travel at a VERY high speed - some of these series of rollers bend the envelopes nearly in HALF and so any envelopes which are not sufficiently flexible will clog up the system, preventing passage of not only the inflexible envelope, but ALL envelopes behind it. What are your other recent experiences using standard envelopes to ship trading cards? Is the only option is to charge the 3oz price of $1.05? but then ebay would be charging more than what USPS is. What gives? What are my options here? USPS is too inconsistent in delivering ebay standard envelopes and ebay does not have an option to add a non-machinable surcharge. AND I received trading cards in the ebay semi-rigid cardboard envelop that are much more thick/rigid than the plain white envelopes I am using. HOWEVER I shipped other trading cards, using the same method, last month that were delivered no problem. Each had 2 card in a top loader (per ebays guidance) and half a sheet of paper as the packing slip.īoth envelopes were returned back to me stating I need to pay the "non-machinable" surcharge of $0.42, totaling $0.99 in postage.

Both envelopes are under 1oz, less that 1/4in thick, and within the size limits. Recently I shipped 2 plain white envelopes using ebay standard envelope for $0.57 each to ship my trading cards. Im going increasingly frustrated using ebay standard envelope to ship my trading cards.
